Where Does the Cathode Ray Definition Come From?

Where Does the Cathode Ray Definition Come From? When it comes to Chemistry, you'll find a large number of names you've never heard of before. With these names you can rest assured that there is always a chemical element that will meet your expectations. The most common kind of chemistry is Organic Chemistry, which is also known as Chemical Evolution. This is the study of how different chemical substances move through time as they are transported and react through the earth's crust. Every element in the world, except for water is found in this form of chemistry. There are many ways the atoms in this form of chemistry transfer energy to one another, sometimes in the form of electrical and magnetic fields, while other times it is through the transfer of an electrical charge. The best of the best organic chemists and physicists have been studying all of the details of this chemistry. You can find the formula of a number of chemical elements like sodium, potassium, and sodium oxide as well as many other chemicals. It would not be hard to see why Organic Chemistry is one of the most popular topics in Chemistry class. This is also one of the main factors behind the development of the cathode ray definition, or a cathode. The anode forms the glass with the cathode the ionic plates found on the cathode. The anode of a chemical substance creates a higher electric field than the cathode which travels around and through the liquid, and when it reaches the anode, it will create an electron-hole pair. This causes the electron to be neutralized and so it creates an electrical charge. This process can also be used in a cell phone to detect and measure ionic levels of a substance, such as oxygen in a mixture. Since the same technique can be used to measure the charge of a chemical, which in turn is what an anode does, it would be easy to see why the cathode makes sense. With the cathode defined, it is now easy to see why so many new chemical compounds have been created to meet the de mands of the electronics industry. New synthetic compounds are created every day just to make sure we get the most out of our materials. To see a large variety of compounds for electronic devices, just type in electronics into Google.

Area of a Hexagon

Area of a Hexagon Area of a Hexagon Geometry is a branch of Mathematics which deals with studying shapes of various dimensions and analyzing their properties. In this study of shapes, the polygon family is one of the most commonly studied figures. Polygons are closed 2-dimesional flat objects which have straight sides. The polygon consisting of 6 sides and 6 angles is known as the Hexagon. Any closed flat 2-dimensional structure with 6 straight sides will be referred to as a Hexagon. The word hex means 6 and gon refers to angle. As shown in the diagram below, a hexagon has 6 sides or edges, 6 angles and 6 vertices. Area of a hexagon is the space occupied within the boundaries (or sides) of the hexagon. Using the side and angle measurements, we can find the area of a hexagon. Hexagons can be commonly observed in different forms in our beautiful nature around. The below figure shows us the shaded portion inside the boundaries of the hexagon which is called the Area of a Hexagon. Types of Hexagons: Hexagons are classified primarily into 2 types: Regular Hexagons and Irregular Hexagons. 1) Regular Hexagon: A hexagon which has all of its 6 sides equal in measure is known as the Regular Hexagon. Along with its 6 equal sides, it also has all its 6 angles equal in measure. Therefore when a regular hexagon is divided into triangles by joining its diagonals, 6 equilateral triangles are formed as shown in the figure below. (Note: Diagonal is a line segment formed by joining any two non-adjacent vertices as shown in the figure on the right). Area of a regular hexagon can be easily calculated by considering the 6 equilateral triangles formed inside. 2) Irregular Hexagon: A hexagon which does not have 6 equal sides is known as the Irregular Hexagon. This type of hexagon does not have 6 equal angles as well. If the vertices of an irregular hexagon point outward, then it is known as a Convex Irregular Hexagon, and if the hexagons vertices (or at least 1 vertex) points inward, then it is known as a Concave Irregular Hexagon as shown in the figure below. Since the sides and angles measurements are unequal, hence we have to use different strategies to find the area of an irregular hexagon. Area of a Hexagon: Area of a hexagon is the space occupied by within the sides of the hexagon. The method to calculate area of a regular hexagon differs from the method to calculate the area of an irregular hexagon. Area of a Regular Hexagon: A regular hexagon has all the 6 sides and 6 angles equal in measure. When diagonals passing through the center of the hexagon are drawn, 6 equilateral triangles of equal size are formed (as shown in the figure below). If the area of one equilateral triangle is calculated then we can easily calculate the area of the given regular hexagon. If a convex regular polygon has n sides, then the sum of all its interior angles, S = (n 2) * 180 Therefore, sum of all the interior angles of a convex regular hexagon S = (6 2) * 180 = 720 If a convex regular polygon has n sides, then Each Interior angle = (n 2)/ n * 180 Therefore, each interior angle of a convex regular hexagon = (6 2)/6 * 180 = 120 Given a regular convex hexagon as shown in the figure above, where point C is the center of the hexagon. Triangle ABC is an equilateral triangle, as all the angles inside triangle ABC are equal to 60 (half of the interior angle 120). Hence all its sides are also equal. Therefore, let the side lengths of AB = BC = CA = s CM is the perpendicular drawn to the side AB. Let CM = h As M becomes the midpoint of side AB, hence MB = s/2 (half of the side length of AB). Now in triangle CMB, we can apply the Pythagorean Theorem to get the relationship between the height h of the triangle, and the side length s. Hence, h2 + (s/2)2 = s2. This implies h2 + s2/4 = s2. This gives h2 = s2 s2/4 So, h2 = 3s2/4 == h = (3s2/4). Therefore, the height of the triangle ABC , h = s* 3/2 Now, Area of triangle ABC = 1/2 * base * height. This implies, Area A = 1/2 * s * h == A = 1/2 * s * (s * 3/2) == A = s2 * 3/4 Therefore, Area of triangle ABC = s2 * 3/4. Now, a regular hexagon consists of 6 such congruent equilateral triangles. Hence, Area of a Regular Hexagon = 6 * s2 * 3/4 which can be further simplified as: Area of a Regular Hexagon = 3/2 * s2 * 3 Example 1: What is the area of a regular hexagon whose side length is 8cm? Given that the side length, s = 8cm Area of a regular hexagon, A = 3/2 * s2 * 3 Hence, Area = 3/2 * 82 * 3 = 963 which is 166.3cm2 (approximately) Example 2: If the area of a regular hexagon is 12 square feet, then what is the side length of the hexagon? Given Area of a regular hexagon, A = 12 square feet and this can be further simplified as 23 ft2. Area of a regular hexagon, A = 3/2 * s2 * 3. Therefore, 3/2 * s2 * 3 = 12. This implies s2 = 2/3 * 12/3. This gives: s2 = 2/3 * 23/3 (123 can be also written as 23). Hence, s2 = 4/3. This implies s = (4/3) = 2/3 = 1.15 (approximately) Therefore, the side length of the regular hexagon is 1.15ft (approximately) Area of an Irregular Hexagon: Finding the area of an irregular hexagon is not the same as finding the area of a regular hexagon. Area of a regular hexagon can be easily calculated using the formula we have above, but for an irregular hexagon we use various methods according to the given information to find its area. Let us look at an example below where the information is given in the figure. Example: Find the area of the irregular hexagon shown in the figure below. In the given figure, we observe that the side lengths are given and the lengths of the diagonals are also given. We can see that the irregular hexagon is split into 4 triangles A, B, C and D. Since the side lengths of each triangle are given, we can use Herons formula. Herons Formula: If a triangle has side lengths as a, b and c, then s = (a + b+ c)/2 Then, Area of the triangle = [s* (s-a)* (s-b)* (s-c)] Triangle A: s = (10+ 6 + 10)/2 == s = 13 Now Area of triangle A = [s(s-a)(s-b)(s-c)] = [(13* (13 -10) * (13 6) * (13 -10)] Area of Triangle A = (13 * 3 * 7 * 3) = 28.6m2 Triangle B: s = (10 + 11 + 7)/2 = 14 Area of triangle B = [(14 * (14 10) * (14 7) * (14 11)] = (14 * 4 * 7 * 3) = 34.3m2 Similarly using Herons Formula as shown above, we get the areas of triangles C and D as well. Area of Triangle C = 16.9m2 and Area of Triangle D = 19.9m2 Now, Area of the Irregular Hexagon = Area of Triangle A + Area of Triangle B + Area of Triangle C + Area of Triangle D Area of the Hexagon = 28.6 + 34.3 + 16.9 + 19.9 = 99.7m2 Perimeter of a Hexagon: Perimeter of a hexagon (regular or irregular) can be easily calculated by adding all the side lengths of the given hexagon. Perimeter of a Regular Hexagon is equal to sum of all its side lengths. Therefore, Perimeter of a Regular Hexagon of side length s (as shown in the figure on the right) = s + s + s + s + s + s This gives us Perimeter of Regular Hexagon = 6s Perimeter of an Irregular Hexagon is also sum of all its side lengths. If a, b, c, d, e, and f are the side lengths of an irregular hexagon (as shown in the figure on the right),then Perimeter of an Irregular Hexagon = a + b + c + d + e + f

8 Things We Learned at CONARH 2015 - Useful Lessons for Expos

8 Things We Learned at CONARH 2015 - Useful Lessons for Expos We hope you enjoyed CONARH 2015 as much as we did! We learned a lot during the show, and had a few frustrating and funny things happen. We wanted to share our story of CONARH and what we learned. (Leia-o aqui em Português).1. Always double check flight itineraries. The LOI English team at CONARH 2015. Left to right, Paul, Adriana, Daniel, Hugo.Hugo Pacheco, a member of LOI’s CONARH team, sent me a Whatsapp at 07:28 on Friday, August 14, to let me know that he was in the lounge at Guarulhos airport, and that I could take my time getting to him. There was one problem. I was still 10,435 kilometers away in Whitefish, Montana, USA packing my bags. Hugo’s message scared me. Did I miss my flight? I ran to my computer and checked my itinerary, and confirmed for Hugo that he was 24 hours early.2. Murphy’s Law Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong.I had a stop in Chicago before heading to Guarulhos. It was an overnight flight, which would give me all day Saturday, August 15 to enj oy São Paulo. As we boarded our plane, it started raining hard outside. Soon there was lightening and thunder. The flight was delayed and then cancelled. Hugo thought I was joking this time. I had to find a hotel in the outskirts of Chicago and catch a flight the next day at noon, which landed me in Guarulhos at 02:00. By the time I got into my apartment and in bed, it was 04:00. It was a good thing I planned on arriving a full day before CONARH.3. Have a plan…We planned a long time for our trip to CONARH, and spent a lot of money (for a small company) on a banner, an iPad podium, and two really nice giveaway prizes an AppleWatch and an iPad. I was 100 percent sure that 1,000s of people would flock to our stand and give us their emails once they learned about our prizes. 4. then burn the plan.Despite our plans, which we made having never done a trade show, people did not flock to our stand. In fact, people hardly looked at it. At first we thought it was because none of our banne rs mentioned the giveaway, so we had an enormous poster printed with the iPad and AppleWatch. It helped a little, but not much. I may be an Apple geek, but the people at CONARH didn’t seem interested. We needed to change tactics completely.5. Get comfortable outside your comfort zone.Ultimately, the only way we made contact with customers was by approaching them and talking to them directly about what we offered. The four of us, Adriana Menoli, Daniel Madruga, Hugo and I are used to working behind computers all day, and had never done anything like this. Despite that, we all persevered, and by the end of the show everyone seemed comfortable approaching complete strangers to tell them about our English and Spanish classes. Our notes show that we spoke to more than 700 individuals at CONARH!6. How to beat Murphy’s Law.Things went wrong throughout the show. I locked several important things, including a medication that I need to take every night, in my hotel safe and forgot the com bination. Daniel and Adriana got really sick (but continued working hard anyways). Parts of our display were damaged and lost during the flight, and could not be used. The very first people I approached at CONARH to talk to about our product looked at me like I was crazy and said “não.” Later we realized they were hearing impaired. Despite all these things, our team continued to work hard, and everything that went wrong eventually became a funny story we told.7. Expos  are not easy! Before going to CONARH, I attended a webinar that warned not to let your team party too much the night before shows. This was never even close to a problem for us usually after dinner we were too tired to have more than 1 beer before bed. It never occurred to me that running a stand at a tradeshow all day would be exhausting work, but it was! At first I thought it was just me, because I was using Portuguese way more than I was accustomed to. But the rest of the LOI team, Hugo, Adriana and Daniel, ar e native Portuguese speakers, and they were all exhausted too. It takes a lot of focus and energy to spend a day explaining a product to people, and we felt it. 8. The show is the beginning. When the show was over, we had made a lot of new contacts that we were excited about, but we realized that, just like with our stand, we couldn’t just sit back and wait for good things to happen now. The work of a exposition like CONARH takes place in the weeks and months after the show is over.

U.S. Gun Control and the Ghost Gun - Listening Exercise

U.S. Gun Control and the Ghost Gun - Listening Exercise So, chances are if you dont live in the U.S., and have heard something about our gun control laws, you probably are a little shocked by them, and maybe even think theyre a bit crazy. The second amendment of our constitution states: A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. The important part, in the gun control debate, is the right of the people to keep and bear Arms. Arms, in this case refers to firearms, or guns.According to a 2007 report by the Switzerland-based Small Arms Survey, the U.S., with only 5 percent of the worlds population, has 35 to 50 percent of the worlds civilian-owned firearms. There is a lot of debate about firearms and gun control in the U.S., and the debate continually grows more complicated and, in some ways, more interesting. Ghost guns  that can be built by civilians using parts ordered online, do not have to be registered with the federal government, and can include powerful weapons such as the AR-15 semi-automatic assault rifle, have just added to the controversy. Watch the video below about ghost guns, and see if you can answer our listening questions. What is different about this gun?How does the ghost gun avoid U.S. gun laws? What 3 ways does he try to make a gun? What works and what doesnt? What is different about the ghost gunner? What cant he do with the rifle he makes? What does he do with it when he finishes? What do you think about this? How do you think it will change the U.S. and the world?

Transitioning from GCSEs to A-levels

Transitioning from GCSEs to A-levels The move from Year 11 to sixth form is really significant. For many pupils, this is the first time that they will be treated like an adult: no more school uniform and a greater degree of freedom. With this freedom of course comes extra responsibility and pressure. These tips can help your child prepare for the change: 1.A-levels involve a huge amount of work, especially if your child is starting with four or more AS levels. Help your child by providing them with clear space to work on, access to a computer and room for their files and books. 2. The move to sixth form can be very stressful. Keep the channels of communication with your child open at all times and make sure they feel able to chat to you about their worries. 3. A-levels involve more self-study and in-depth work than GCSEs. If you child isn't sure how to work in this way, a few sessions with a study skills tutor or subject-specific tutor can really help. 4. Unfortunately A-levels happen at a time when teenagers want to party as much as possible. Set some boundaries with your child: it's important to have some rest and relaxation, but not at the cost of their studies. 5.Start researching universities and degree programmes as soon as sixth form starts. When your child can contextualise their studies and see what they can lead to, they can become more motivated and hard-working.

Get Your Elementary School Kid Ready For Back-to-School

Get Your Elementary School Kid Ready For Back-to-School Five ways to help your elementary school kid get ready for back-to-school Kids are going back to school in just a couple of short weeks, but most of them are still hanging onto summer. Going back to school each fall is a challenging transition that can be made easier by preparing for the classroom in advance. Starting in late August kids will be expected to sit in a classroom and pay attention for up to six hours a day as well as absorb new educational material on a regular basis. Whether kids review core subjects or start getting back into a daily routine, slowly transitioning makes both the child’s and parent’s life a little bit easier. 1. Review foundation materials Many classroom teachers dont have the opportunity to review as much as they did in past years. Thus its more important than ever for kids to remember the basic tools they learned the previous year. Parents are encouraged to speak with their childs teacher to determine what they need to be prepared for on the first day. This may include math formulas or reading comprehension skills that pertain specifically to the childs grade level or it may just mean that the student needs to be able to organize and study without prompting. Doing a little bit of review before the first day helps kids prepare for the semester ahead and feel confident about their ability to learn and succeed. 2. Awaken the brain Summer is an excellent opportunity for younger kids to take a mental break from everything theyve done throughout the school year but they should reawaken their brain before the first day of school in the fall. This might mean reading a new book or visiting a science museum. Igniting curiosity and brainpower doesnt have to be something specific just something that will make the student curious about the world around them and get them excited about learning in the classroom. 3. Attend back-to-school night Many young kids get nervous about their first day of school. They might be attending a different campus, or they may be wondering if theyll be able to make new friends. Having a new teacher and a new classroom is also a little bit nerve-racking. One of the ways to ease these fears is to attend back-to-school night or just visit the campus before the first day. Kids will have a chance to see their classroom, meet their teacher, and get to know a few of their future classmates. Spending a little bit of time on campus can make the first day of school less stressful and more fun. 4. Help kids organize Its a challenge for young kids to keep themselves organized and they need a little help transitioning from summer to the classroom. They may need a folder for each subject or color code different assignments. Different kids need various organizational tools to stay on top of things. Some kids need auditory cues while others benefit from the visual organization.
